Summer signing hoping to repeat last year's form
The 25-year-old finished level with Brentford’s Alan Judge with 11 assists for the season while adding six goals to his CV despite being part of a struggling Charlton Athletic side that went on to be relegated to the third tier.
Gudmundsson was handed his first outing in the Premier League by boss Sean Dyche at the weekend, replacing Scott Arfield with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining in the defeat to Swansea City, and now he’s hoping to build on that.

Hide Ad“As a winger you want to set up goals,” he said. “I do take pride in it. That’s what I did last season – 11 I think.
“I was joint top with a struggling team. I think it’s not too bad so hopefully I can set up a few goals here and score as well. As a winger you need to have that.”
The winger, who helped his nation reach the quarter-finals of the European Championships in France over the summer, is now excited by the prospect of helping strike duo Andre Gray and Sam Vokes get on the score sheet.
The pair shared 39 goals during the title-winning campaign.
“Yes, I’m definitely excited,” said Gudmundsson. “They are two great strikers who score goals for fun. So I will hopefully create a few chances for them that they can stick in the back of the net.”

Hide AdHaving featured against the likes of Portugal, England and France at the Euros, and experiencing the Europa League with AZ Alkmaar, Gudmundsson feels that he’s equipped for the Premier League.
“I have played in some tough games obviously with Iceland and in the Europa League as well against some tough teams,” he said.
“The Premier League is probably going to be a bit different but it would have helped for me to play in these big games. The main target is to keep our place in the league and build from there.”
