The 24-year-old is due to undergo a medical today, with Mauricio Pochettino having won the race for his signature.

Tripper was a standout performer as Burnley were relegated from the Premier League, and won a host of admirers, with Aston Villa and Stoke also keen to land the former Manchester City youngster.

Liverpool and Manchester United were also linked with a move, but he is set for a switch to North London once all the formalities are completed.

The fee will come as a disappointment to Burnley fans, as Trippier had a release clause in his contract, after signing a new three-year deal last summer after promotion.

Manchester City are also due 40% of any profit after he moved to Turf Moor for around £400,000 on a permanent deal in January 2012 after six months on loan.

Burnley are expected to up their interest in Villa right back Matt Lowton as a potential replacement, and have also been linked with Doncaster Rovers’ Reece Wabara.
