Special night to commemorate Burnley’s title win

“THEY came to York in their thousands…they’re going home as champions!”

April 28th, 1992, will forever be etched in the memory of Clarets fans.

A 2-1 win at York City secured the Fourth Division title and ended seven long years in English football’s basement edition.

Now, 20 years on from that night in York, Burnley Former Players’ Association are reuniting the men who made Clarets dreams come true.

All members of that triumphant squad have been invited and many have already confirmed their attendance including goal heroes John Deary and John Francis, captain fantastic John Pender, goalkeeper Chris Pearce and goal machine Roger Eli.

Frank Casper, who started the campaign as manager, and chairman Frank Teasdale will also be there to celebrate a season which is rightly remembered as the year Burnley came back.

Clarets legend Steve Kindon will be entertaining the crowd with tales of his Burnley career while there will also be a chance to hear from the squad about that triumphant season, the mid-season trip to Russia and welcoming European giants Ajax to Turf Moor.

And if that wasn’t enough, Eli will be signing copies of his new book - Thanks for the Memories, written with Clarets fan Dave Thomas – which goes on sale that day.

Tickets, which include a delicious three-course meal, are priced at £25 each and are available from Veronica Simpson by calling 07974310099 or by emailing [email protected]
