Soccer Six returns to Turf Moor

IT’S back! Soccer Six is returning to Turf Moor this summer for the second year in a row.

The celebrity football tournament was an outstanding success last year when nearly 7,000 fans and 300 corporate guests watched teams of pop stars, actors and media celebrities compete for the title.

And Burnley Football Club is delighted to be hosting the high profile tournament again, with the 2012 Soccer Six set to be bigger and better than ever.

Anthony Fairclough, Director of Commercial Affairs at Burnley FC, said: “We are obviously excited at the prospect of being the venue of choice by the Soccer Six organisers and we are pleased that we can build on the success of last year’s massive event.

“The Soccer Six tournament is a great day out and I would say to anyone who missed last year to come to this year’s event, as it promises to be bigger and better than before.”

Mark Abery, CEO and founder of Celebrity Soccer Six, added: “We are delighted to be back at Burnley Football Club for what will be the 30th Soccer Six event.

“Last year was a great success with Plan B, TOWIE and The Wanted among 160 celebrities doing battle for the coveted Soccer Six crown.

“In this anniversary year for us and with the Queen’s jubilee that same weekend we hope to make Soccer Six a double celebration and hope the good people of Burnley give us the same support as in 2011.”

The big day is Saturday, 2 June with a gala night staged at Turf Moor the previous evening.

Ticket details will be announced shortly, so watch this space.

Last season, a team from top BBC show Merlin worked its magic to win the men’s competition.

And girl group Vida - with the help of Lauren Goodger from the Only Way Is Essex and Bianca Gascoigne, showing some of her father’s footballing skills - scooped the girls’ prize.
