Shayne Ward confirmed to take part in Soccer Six

SHAYNE Ward, winner of the X Factor, has confirmed that he will be taking part in the Celebrity Soccer Six Tournament AT Turf Moor this summer.

The singer will be lacing up his boots as he prepares to play against fellow celebs on the hallowed turf, on Sunday June 5th.

The star, who has sold three million records and has number one hit records in nine countries will be joined by some of the biggest names in music, TV, sport, film and entertainment. And stars of some of TV’s biggest shows including Eastenders, Coronation Street, Waterloo Road, Skins, the X-Factor and Big Brother are already in training!

Soccer Six CEO Mark Abery said: “We are delighted that Shayne will be taking part at the events. As part of the Sun’s hugely successful Soccer Six squad there will be pressure on his shoulders, but I’m told he is quite a player”.

Burnley Football Club Commercial of Director Affairs, Anthony Fairclough said,

Current Soccer Six champions are Jeff Brazier’s X-Factor team who saw off competition in the 2010 tournament from The Wanted, McFly, NDUBZ, Flawless, Omid Djalili and David Baddiel, Kid British, Soccer AM, The Hoosiers, and the Sun, who had Lethal Bizzle, Tinchy Stryder, and Olly Murs in the side. NDUBZ’s Tulisa was on fire in the girls’ tournament and it was her team who lifted the girls’ trophy.

With over 150 celebrities in attendance the Soccer Six is the biggest 6-a-side celebrity football tournament in the world and has been staged across the UK since 1995.

Lucien Laviscount - Lucien’s first major break came when he won the role of Jake Briggs in Grange Hill who he played from 2007 until 2008. His next major role came in 2009 when he joined the cast of Coronation Street as Ben Richardson, become a viewers favourite. Lucien now plays Jonah Kirby in the smash hit BBC series Waterloo Road.

Jack McMullen - After starting his career on Brookside and winning two soap awards Jack became a regular face on some of British TV’s most popular shows and now plays Finn Sharkey in Waterloo Road.

Will Rush - Will began his career on Grange Hill where he played Ali Duncan from 2005 until 2007 before moving on to Waterloo Road where he has made his name in the role of Josh Stevenson.

Devon Anderson - Devon is best known for his roles in Hollyoaks where he played Sonny Valentine and as two stints as Billy Mitchell in Eastenders in the mid nineties and most recently from 2009 to 2010. Following a role on CBBC’s Kerching in the early 2000’s Devon was also a presenter on CBBC.

Marvyn Williams - Since appearing on Shipwrecked 2008 and being part of the winning Tiger team, Marvyn has become a successful DJ, presenter and model, having presented for T4 among others.

Kris Donnelly - Kris appeared on the tenth series of Big Brother where he remained a housemate until being evicted on day 37.

Anthony Hutton - Anthony won Big Brother 6 with 57.2% of the vote and appeared on the 2010 show, Ultimate Big Brother. After leaving the house Anthony appeared on the Match and Premier League All Stars.

Craig Phillips - Craig made his name as the winner of the first ever Big Brother series in the UK. A builder by trade Craig, after leaving the Big Brother house Craig began presenting DIY and renovation shows. She is currently starring in Waterloo Road as Bex Fisher after appearing in 2010 in The Secret Diaries of Miss Anne Lister, in which she played the character of Miss Browne. In 2010 she was a contestant on Strictly Come dancing and made it through to the 5th round before being eliminated.

Zaraah Abrahams - After two years starring as Magda in Girls in Love, Zaraah secured the role of Joanne Jackson in Coronation Street where she stayed for two years before being snapped up by Waterloo Road to play the role of Michaela White, becoming a firm favourite with viewers for three years on the show. In 2008 Zaraah starred as a contestant on Dancing on Ice where she reached the semi finals of the show.
