Selection headache up front for Laws

BRIAN Laws has a nice selection headache tonight.

He left out leading scorer Chris Iwelumo on Saturday, with Martin Paterson coming in to score his first two goals of the season.

All eight of Iwelumo’s goals have come at Turf Moor so far, and Laws may even pitch both in against Doncaster: “It’s a nice headache. It also gives the opposition a thought about which one I play.

“We know both of them have been in good form.

“I thought the game was suited to Pato against Norwich, and so it proved.

“The second half took away the limelight for him. But when you reflect on it, it’s a great return.

“He’s taken his opportunity with both hands and it’s a tough one to call, but hopefully the one I do make will be the right one.

“Both are completely different players and give the opposition different thoughts.

“You never know, I might put them both on.”

And he continued to reflect on dropping points from winning positions: “We’re losing points when we’ve had them in our hands, with minutes to go, and that’s what hurts the most.

“We’ve only had a couple of minutes left when you think you’ve done your job.

“It’s a long time since the club’s gone on a run of away games without being defeated, but the way we’ve set our stall out this year we’re looking at it with disappointment.

“We know what we are capable of. We’re just marginally away from the finished article.

“If we get it right we could be in the thick of it and be in a fantastic position.”
