Sean Dyche not making any special plans

The only Somerset club in the Football League are in their first season in the Championship after winning the play-off final in May at Wembley.

Formed in 1895, it took the Glovers 108 years to enter the league, and, despite having only the 53rd-best home support in the league, averaging gates of 4,070 last season, they find themselves a promotion away from the Premier League.

Gary Johnson’s side carried the momentum of their promotion into their first game of the season, where they earned a 1-0 win at Millwall, before last week’s 1-0 home defeat to Birmingham City brought them back down to earth.

After the start Burnley have made, they will be fancied tomorrow, which could play into the Glovers’ hands.

But boss Sean Dyche is not making any special preparations for the clubs’ first ever meeting: “Yeovil are no more or less an awkward proposition than any other game in the Championship because they are newcomers to the division. They are full of energy, effort and want to do well. They got a nice win at Millwall, before losing against Birmingham last week, but they still delivered a performance.

“You have to prepare for every side correctly, and we will be doing that.”

Dyche is out to maintain an unbeaten start, and he has been pleased with what he has seen so far: “We’ve got off to a nice start and there’s a good feeling in the camp.

“We feel we have a good thing going on here, and it’s important we try and maintain that.”

Ben Mee is back in contention for a start after coming through two development games, either side of an appearance on the bench at Sheffield Wednesday last week, and Dyche said: “The thing we want is competition for places, and the more people fit and well, the better. We’ve had to be careful with Ben, but we’ve looked at it wisely and he’s come through well.”

But Danny Lafferty stands in his way, on a high after helping Norther Ireland beat Russia on Wednesday: “Danny’s still learning, but he’s come on a nice journey and that was a great result against Russia.”

Michael Duff’s rehabilitation is going to plan, but he remains unavailable after a groin problem.

Glovers join lost list of clubs to face Burnley

Yeovil Town will become the 105th club the Clarets have faced in 125 years in the Football League.

The sides have yet to face each other since Town entered the league as Conference champions 10 years ago, and they will become the first new name to join a long list of clubs Burnley have encountered since taking on Macclesfield Town in 1998/99 under Stan Ternent. Since then, Burnley have played league newcomers Cheltenham Town, Rushden and Diamonds, Burton Albion and Morecambe, but only in cup competitions.
