Sean Dyche delighted with players after New Years Day victory

Clarets boss Sean Dyche was delighted with his players as Burnley started the New Year with a 3-2 win over Huddersfield Town to climb back into the automatic promotion slots.

Goals from Danny Ings, who netted a first half brace to take his tally to 19 for the season, and a glorious effort from Kieran Trippier exacted revenge on the Terriers, who won the return fixture 2-1 in November.

Town twice replied through in-form former Claret Martin Paterson, but Dyche said: “We’ve been to some tough places and have 11 points from six games now, it’s a good stat, as is being 17 games unbeaten at home.

“I thought we did more than enough to win, we showed a lot of quality.

“We’re a scalp, the players have earned that right, but to be second with a fantastic points total is credit to them.”
