Sam Vokes relishing the prospect of facing England in the Euros

The Dragons have been placed in pot four after ending a 58-year wait to compete in a major tournament having finished runner-up to Belgium in Group B in the qualifying stage.

With the potential of a battle of Britain, with the Three Lions one of the tournament's top seeds, he said: "If I’m honest, I’d prefer it if we didn’t play England. That would be viewed as a battle of Britain and there would be a lot of things that go with it that could make it a distraction.

“We will play three games and we don’t want it to all be about one of them.”

However, Sam Vokes is relishing the prospect of facing Roy Hodgson's side in France next summer - which may include team-mate Tom Heaton.

The Welsh striker admitted that he'll be hoping to tune in to the draw immediately after Burnley's clash with QPR at Loftus Road.

"It’s something to look forward too," he said. "I’ll be getting back on the bus and trying to watch it.

"It’s exciting to see who we will be facing next summer.

"It’s an exciting time for everyone and I’m sure I’ll have the family trying to book flights for wherever we may be playing."

Vokes added: "England would be nice. It would be a great draw. We’re in pot four so it will be a tough draw whoever we get. It will be good to see who comes out. It would be a great match to be involved in if we were to get England.

"You can only play for your country if you’re doing well at your club and vice versa. So it’s important to get your club football right and take that into your international form."

The draw, which will take place in Paris, will be live on BBC Two from 5-15 p.m. as well as Sky Sports News.
