Rochdale striker O’Grady not on Burnley FC manager Eddie Howe’s radar

BURNLEY boss Eddie Howe is not in the hunt for Rochdale striker Chris O’Grady.

But he remains hopeful of adding to his squad ahead of the Championship kick-off at home to Watford a fortnight tomorrow.

Rumours circulated on Wednesday evening of an interest in 25-year-old O’Grady, who has been the subject of two failed bids from Sheffield Wednesday – the latest worth ₤£250,000.

But it is understood that Howe, who was once offered the 6ft 3ins frontman by then-Dale boss Keith Hill as part of a deal for centre-back Jason Pearce, has no interest in the former Leicester and Oldham man.

Howe admitted after the 2-0 friendly defeat at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday night he is keen to bring in extra firepower after allowing Chris Iwelumo to join Watford for an undisclosed sum.

He said: “We’re working on it, we need another striker.”
