While some were of the opinion that a point apiece was a fair outcome - with John Egan cancelling out James Tarkowski's opener - others felt that it was an opportunity missed.

Matej Vydra had squandered a golden chance to put the Clarets ahead in the first half when sliding the ball wide of the far post with just Dean Henderson to beat.

And Dwight McNeil wasted an even better opening to wrap up the points in the second half, firing wide of the upright after Henderson had repelled a Jay Rodriguez piledriver.

Here's what they had to say...

Michael Brown

Vydra and McNeil should have sealed it so accept a point, don't want to be back in Europe.

Joel Briscall

Vydra miss! Not too costly! We are 8th in the Premier League.

Dave Mitchell

Fair result, could have gone either way.

Max Kelly

Fair result overall but with two gilt-edged chances missed it’s a bit disappointing. Their goal was well taken.

Should have won the game more convincingly but I'd have taken a draw before kick off.

Dave Metcalfe

Should have wrapped it up with two bad misses, take a point though.

Chris Doyle

Vydra and McNeil missed sitters, happy with result overall though.

Steve Harris

Seven points from three games and still in the chase for Europe.

Possibly two [points] lost but we probably gained at Palace. Fair overall.

Leigh Moggy Morgan

Not going to complain, good run since Christmas. If it wasn't for that, we could be doing a Villa, Watford or Bournemouth

Les Leaver

Two [points] dropped with two missed chances but we have to take it on the chin and move on. That's if we have a team left.

Two points dropped. If McNeil scored that chance it's 2-0 and game over. He missed it and we were punished.

Good result that I would have taken before kick off but two points dropped given the clear chances we had.

@philrob62

Sheffield are a very good team. A bit lax for their equaliser and Dwight's miss was terrible...but hey ho 46 points is a decent return at this stage.

@btccaddict

Good point against a difficult and good team.

Good points total so far, still on track to beat the 52.

No complaints here.
