Prudent Clarets spent £18.8m on wages

Burnley’s wage bill in their last financial year accounts was just £18.8m according to a report published this week.

That figure, part of the Insider News survey, puts them just tenth in a league table of this season’s Sky Bet Championship League clubs which revealed that fellow relagated clubs QPR and Hull City spent a staggering £66.4m and £38.6m respectively.

Arch-rivals Blackburn Rovers spent an eye-watering £34.5m in the Championship – ranking them fifth in the big-spending league.

At the other end of the scale newly-promoted Preston North End spent just £5.7m,

Figures also reveal that Bolton Wanderers’ debt stood at £182.1m and Blackburn Rovers at £79.8m and Burnley’s at just£4.6m. QPR’s debt stood at £179.6m and Nottingham Forest’s £46.1m.
