Officers are also asking supporters to ensure they take basic crime prevention measurers and not give criminals the chance to take advantage of people while they are at the match.

Fans are asked to ensure they lock their vehicles and leave no valuables on show as well as keeping personal belongingsn such as wallets and phonesn in front pockets. Bags should be kept closed and with you at all times.

Match commander Chief Insp. Jon Bullas said: “Given the large number of people attending the game, we would advise supporters to allow for more time to arrive at the ground. Roads will be busy in the area and especially at the end of the match.

“Crime is low in Lancashire, especially car crime, but it is important we don’t give criminals the opportunity to take advantage and we would urge people to keep their personal belongings safe.

“We have been working closely with officials from Burnley FC to make sure the appropriate policing operation is in place.

“We want everyone attending the game to enjoy the event in a safe environment.

“However, we will work with the club to ensure the minority who might look to cause trouble will be robustly dealt with.
