Burnley’s best chance came when Tyrone Mears played a ball through to Chris Iwelumo, but the Scottish international shot wide.
Micheal Doyle won the game for the hosts when after collecting the ball, he hit a rasping shot from well outside the area that sailed into the bottom corner.
