And 23-year-old Jonathan Gaukroger will certainly not be forgetting the 196-mile charity walk to Wembley he is set to embark on with his girlfriend Emma Duffy.

The pair are walking from UCFB Turf Moor to Wembley next month to raise money for Macmillan Cancer and MIND. Jonathan, who lives in Fence and has just graduated from UCFB in football business and media, said they wanted to give money to cancer research as both had lost family members to the disease.

“A couple of my close relatives have died recently and Emma has lost somebody, too. I was looking at doing Land’s End to John O’Groats but did some research and it would take something like two months to do which we can’t really afford. Plus we probably wouldn’t have been fit enough. This is a bit shorter but will be still be a challenge.”

They set off on September 7th and are aiming to arrive there on the 21st.

“We’re just in the process of planning it now. UCFB have said they’ll put something towards our accommodation which is really nice. We’re going to be travelling through the Peak District as well so we’ll look at camping.”
