Opta's predicted final Premier League table - where will Burnley, Brighton, Newcastle and Fulham finish in fight for survival?

Despite letting a two-goal lead slip against Southampton - analysts at Opta are still backing Burnley to break the 40-point marker and beat the drop.

Latest insight from 'The Analysis', Opta's rolling football blog, has calculated where each of the 20 teams in the Premier League are most likely to finish.

Predicting that Manchester City will go on to win a third title in four seasons was one of the easier tasks, as was pinning Sheffield United for a return to the Championship.

However, statisticians have crunched the numbers to work out which sides will secure a top four finish in the top flight and which clubs are destined for relegation.

The predictor anticipates that the battle for survival will be quite straight forward, but suggests that the race for the Champions League spots will be far more enthralling.
