Nottingham Forest’s Billy Davies in frame for Burnley FC job

A NATIONAL newspaper has named Billy Davies as the shock front-runner to become Burnley’s next manager.

The Daily Mail has put Davies’ name in the frame as he is currently in dispute with Nottingham Forest over the club’s transfer policy.

After removing Brian Laws, the newspaper has reported that Burnley’s board have begun assessing potential replacements and claim they have put Davies and Bournemouth’s Eddie Howe at the top of their list.

The newspaper reports that Howe is seen as an “up-and-coming” candidate but there are “misgivings” over whether the 33-year-old could control a dressing room thought to have helped secure skipper Graham Alexander’s key role in a caretaker management set-up led by Stuart Gray.

“There would be no such reservations with Davies, whose abrasive style has led to conflict but also helped him forge a formidable reputation for moulding successful npower Championship sides,” it goes on.
