Padiham Football Club have announced an historic merger with Padiham Saints Junior Football Club.
From the coming season, Padiham Saints will become Padiham FC Juniors.
Shaun Astin, Padiham FC Chairman, said: “Since taking over the role of chairman just over two years ago, it has been an ambition of mine to have a junior section at the football club.
“During my time as chairman we have worked closely with Padiham Saints and now seems like the perfect time to bring the two clubs together.
“The merger will have long term benefits for all involved and will provide a pathway for players from under six all the way through to adult football.
“I feel Padiham has long needed this and it will once again put the football club at the heart of the community.
“The buzz around the ground when Padiham Saints teams have been mascots for first team matches has been fantastic, the children love it, and the parents have also had a great time.
“The club is becoming a real hub for the local community and this merger will help to strengthen our ties to the community.”
Jason Bradley, Chairman of Padiham Saints added: “When Shaun approached us at the end of season 2016-17, we agreed it would be beneficial for both clubs to work together.
“There were already natural links between both clubs with several former Padiham players coaching at the club and children and grandchildren of Padiham FC committee members playing at the club, so it made sense to build on these relationships.”
Padiham Saints were founded in 2006 and have grown organically ever since.
This coming season there will be approximately 250 juniors at the club, and for the first time in the club’s history there will be teams at every age group from Under 7 right through to Under 16.
The club are also delighted to announce a two-year shirt sponsorship deal with Mann+Hummel.
The deal will see all teams from Under 7 through to the first team wearing the same match kit.
David Connolly of Mann+Hummel said: “Mann+Hummel may be a global organisation with sites all over the world, but it is still very much a family company with a strong community spirit.
“That is why we are proud to become the exclusive shirt sponsors of Padiham FC Juniors and Padiham FC for the next two years.
“We are pleased to be associated with such a community-oriented club.”
