After back to back victories, every thing that could go wrong did go wrong in Padiham’s game at Scarborough Athletic on Saturday.
A goal down after only five minutes when Ryan Blott found the back of the net, the same player added a second five minutes later, but only after a big shout for handball in the build up was turned down by the referee.
Padiham pulled a goal back on 15 minutes when Daley Woods played in midfielder Daniel Wilkins, and he finished off his forward run with a shot that beat keeper Joe Cracknell.
The game turned Scarborough’s way again on 29 minutes, but only after another hand ball was missed by the referee that this time allowed Gary Bradshaw to go on and score to restore the home side’s two-goal advantage.
Bradshaw added a second on 34 minutes when he headed in a right wing cross.
After the break, Padiham had a real go at trying to make an early break through, but when Chappy Massamba did find the back of the net, the assistant’s flag rather harshly ruled it out for off-side.
Padiham assistant manager Stephen Pickup was then sent from the dug out, Wilkins red carded for a late challenge.
Scarborough wrapped up the game with further goals late on from Paul Robson and Alex Metcalfe.
