Danny Craig has been appointed as Padiham assistant manager after Steve Cunningham left to take over at former club Colne on Wednesday night.

Cunningham has been assistant manager at Ashton Athletic and Padiham under Steve Wilkes, and makes the short trip across East Lancashire from the Arbories with Wilkes’ blessing.

Wilkes said: “Just want to wish my best mate Steve Cunny all the very best in his new adventure as Colne manager.

“He’s been brilliant for me these past few seasons.

“I’m both delighted and saddened to see him moving on because he’ll be a huge loss to both myself and Padiham Football Club, but a great asset to Colne football club. Great appointment!”

And of his new right-hand man, he added: “I’m pleased to announce Danny Craig has accepted my offer to become my assistant manager at Padiham. Great coach who has great knowledge of football.”
