Two Burnley Ladies team mates have won scholarships at Indian Falls Community College in Iowa, North America.
Sophie Greenwood and Hannah Till are heading over the pond to take up their Scholarships on July 12th.
They started playing for Burnley FC Girls and Ladies at the tender age of eight, under manager Mark Nicholson and coach Steve Bell.
The team became one of the most successful ever for the club.
Sophie has captained the team through all the age groups, until she suffered a long-term injury that sadly ruled her out for most of last season. She rejoined the squad late in the season and immediately found her feet with impressive performances.
Both girls have been the subject of in-depth reports on the Iowa College website and they are described as key signings that will strengthen the college squad of international players.
Hannah is a strong defender who can join the attack, while Sophie is an attacking midfield player who can open up scoring opportunities in abundance.
Ladies’ football is a very popular sport in the US and attracts strong support at College and University level. The sport has regular features in all the media throughout the year and the frenzy of the World Cup is immense, with the US reaching the final.
The two Lady Clarets have the ability to be very successful and will be great ambassadors for their home town club.
