Naked pic of Burnley FC player used in Twitter attack

CLARETS star Keith Treacy has become the latest footballer to fall foul of social networking site Twitter.

The 22-year-old had his online profile “@Treace11” hacked while he was away on international duty with the Republic of Ireland.

The wing wizard had his usual profile picture swopped for an image which appeared to show him in a compromising naked pose.

Fans of the Dublin-born starlet reacted with shock and alarm at the explicit picture which was taken down within hours on Tuesday evening.

The account of the former Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End player, followed by more than 3,000 people, has now been deleted from the site.

A spokesman for Burnley Football Club said it would not comment on this incident which it called a “personal” matter.

He said: “If something happens with a bogus account or an imposter situation we step in and sort it out on their behalf to protect the player and the club.”

However, officials said players are still free to use Twitter for personal use but were forbidden from tweeting about club matters.
