Moorland’s head of football development Charlie Jackson said: “We are really proud of our development record at Moorland and for the boys who have worked so hard this year.

“They are a really talented crop of players who have a brilliant attitude.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to play a part in the boys success, and hopefully this will be their next step in their development and towards their dream of becoming professional footballers.”

It has proved another successful season for the Clitheroe school who made it to the final of the English Schools’ Football Association Under-12s Cup, staged at Reading’s Madejski Stadium earlier this month.

After a gallant cup run, they were edged out 3-1 in the final by Surrey’s Whitgift School. Over the past few years Moorland have forged an enviable reputation for nurturing young talent, with ex-Manchester United youngster John Cofie joining Burnley before his switch to Old Trafford in 2007. More recently, Joe Grayson, the son of Preston North End boss Simon Grayson and former Moorland School friends Stefan Mols and Alex Curran joined the professional ranks at Ewood Park, where they have starred for Rovers’ youth squad.
Headteacher Jonathan Harrison said: “Moorland School is incredibly proud of all their achievements.”
