Miles signs up for Liverpool

Goalkeeper Miles Preston is hoping Liverpool's future will be in safe hands as he looks forward to his first full season in their Academy.

Shuttleworth College student Miles, 14, impressed in trials while playing for Lancashire Schoolboys and signed up to the Anfield Academy last November.

He had spent time at Manchester United, and played for Barrowford Celtic for a year before being snapped up last year by Accrington Stanley.

However, in a series of trials, Liverpool spotted his talent and he is being coached by former Accrington Stanley goalkeeper Ian Dunbavin.

“I was shocked when the Liverpool scouts approached me,” said Miles, who is a Burnley season ticket holder.

“I train at the Academy four nights a week and I have learnt a lot in my time there after joining last November.”

Miles is five foot 11 inches, and still growing, and says his main talent is ‘shot-stopping.’

“My favourite goalkeeper is Tom Heaton, that’s who I look up to,” added Miles.
