Midfielder Jones reveals that confidence is sky high in Clarets camp

After registering their fourth win of the campaign in a 2-1 triumph over QPR, which saw the Clarets climb out of the Premier League relegation zone, Jones said: “It was a significant win for us and we move on to the next game now.

“There’s a long way to go, but we want to be looking up and trying to get as far up the table as we can. We’ve been in the relegation zone for a few weeks, but still in the mix, and it’s so tight down there.

“We’re not getting carried away but it’s nice to get a win and be out of the zone. It looks like it’s going to be tight.

“That first win gave us a belief and it’s grown and grown. There’s nothing that can replicate it apart from winning games and getting points, it’s that feeling and confidence that just suddenly appears in a group like it has done with us ever since that first win.

“We feel we can go anywhere and at home we fancy ourselves against anyone.”

Saturday’s fixture against the Hoops marked the beginning of a pivotal cluster of games for the Clarets. Following the FA Cup tie at White Hart Lane tomorrow night the Clarets take on Crystal Palace, Sunderland and West Brom over the coming weeks.

“We’ve got a cup game first, a good one down at Tottenham, and then another massive Premier League game against Crystal Palace,” Jones said. “Personally I look at every game as winnable, but those ones that are in and around us you don’t want to lose ground on teams and you want to get ahead of them.

“For obvious reasons they are very important. But we’ll approach them in the same way as we did on Saturday and give our all.

“After the New Year we just want to win every game we can and there’s these teams that are in and around us that we’ve got a few games against and we just want to impose ourselves and perform well and hopefully at the end of it we’ll be getting points. I feel we’re a force for anyone.”
