The Clarets are now six games without a win, and have just three goals to their name in six outings.

Boro started at a good tempo but Burnley managed to keep their hosts at arm's length in the first half, with Tom Heaton not troubled by a number of speculative shots from distance.

The Clarets grew into the game and David Jones had a goal bound effort blocked from Tendayi Darikwa after a lovely ball from Dean Marney - on his first start since February.

George Boyd then had a shot turned around the post by Dimi Konstantopoulos, before Boyd was close to sending Andre Gray clear after a delightful one-touch move.

After the break, however, it was all Boro.

They went ahead eight minutes after the restart as Adam Forshaw's pullback was turned in at the near post by Emilio Nsue.

Scott Arfield them shot tamely at Konstantopoulos from Marney's pass, but Boro looked the more likely to score again.

Stuart Downing had a screamer tipped over by Heaton, while Forshaw and George Friend both had efforts on target.

Cristhian Stuani almost added a late second after nicking the ball away from Heaton, but he could only find the side netting.

Heaton denied Albert Adomah one on one in injury time, but one goal was enough for Boro.
