Mee seeks inspiration from last season's title run in

Burnley’s objective at this stage last term was somewhat different as they competed for the Championship title, which they secured by taking 25 points from a possible 33 to complete a 23-match unbeaten streak.

This time the goal is survival as the Clarets look to distance themselves from the bottom three in the top flight and, just like last year, the 27-year-old centre back is looking to accumulate as many points as possible.

“We want to win as many games as we can,” he said. “We’ve got 11 games to go and we just need to win as many as we can.

“We’ll go in to every game like we do and how we did at this stage last year towards the end of the season.

“We’ll go in there with that frame of mind that we did; we went on a good unbeaten run toward the end of the season and we want to replicate that.”

Sean Dyche’s side go to Anfield on Sunday to take on Liverpool, looking to improve on a dire away record.

The Clarets executed a tactical masterclass to beat the Reds at Turf Moor earlier in the campaign with strike duo Sam Vokes and Andre Gray on the scoresheet.

Mee feels that he and his team-mates will have to mirror that display in Merseyside if they are to take anything away from the game.

“We’ll go there with the same frame of mind that we do every game and look to put in a performance and get a reaction,” he said.

“We need to repeat that performance [from August] at the weekend and see how it goes.

“That was obviously a big performance from us, we’ve done well at home, but we need to start performing well again away from home.”

With 93.5% of Burnley’s points being taken on home soil, Mee added: “We don’t rely on our home form, we try to perform away from home.

“It didn’t happen today [against Swansea], even though we’ve performed well in recent weeks against some big teams.

“It’s not as if we’re not performing well in most weeks - obviously today wasn’t a great day for us - but we don’t rely on our home form because we want to win at home and away.

“We want to be winning games, getting points and pulling away as much as we can.”
