But Steven Reid and Michael Keane are available again after injury.

Marney has missed the last three games with a hamstring strain, and while he has improved during the week, boss Sean Dyche said: “He will be touch and go.

“He’s had a good week, but he’s had long enough out and we can’t take a risk with him.

“If he is spot on, as Danny Ings was last week, he has every chance.”

Reid has sat out the last two games with a groin problem, with Keane returned to Gawthorpe last week with a hamstring injury suffered on international duty with England Under 21s.

Dyche added: “Keano is fine. He trained last Friday but had had four or five days out before that without training so wasn’t risked.

“And Reidy is back on the training pitch with us as well after a minor injury.”

Meanwhile, Matt Taylor is on the mend after an operation on his Achilles on Monday.

Taylor has been out for the last five games, and Dyche explained: “It was a simple operation really, it was something which kept annoying his tendon, and he had to have time to naturally heal before nicking a spur off. There’s no timeframe on his return, there’ll be an initial healing period and after that, we’ll see how it goes.”

And Sam Vokes is stepping up his fitness: “He’s going well, he’s joining in with bits and bobs, taking part in some drills, bits of finishing with the lads. But we’re still in the hands of the medical team.”
