Following the Government’s recent roadmap announcement, which will see the safe return of grassroots football from March 29th, the FA have announced the 2020-21 Vitality Women’s FA Cup will recommence at the end of this month.

With restrictions due to be lifted, the FA have rescheduled the first four rounds of the competition - with one tie still to be played in the first round proper and 17 in the second-round proper, before the third and fourth rounds can be played.

Burnley FC Women will face league rivals AFC Fylde Women in the second round, at home at Padiham FC's Arbories Memorial Sports Ground, on Sunday, April 4th.

And the winner will face Sunderland AFC Ladies or Sheffield FC Women in the third round proper, with the prospect of Manchester United Women at home in the fourth round.

Burnley FC Women Manager, Matt Bee said: "It's positive news that the Women's FA Cup will be resuming, and we can return to play.

"We've had some successful runs in the competition previously and in what has been a strange season it would be nice to focus on trying to achieve another one.

"It will obviously be a challenge given the amount of preparation time we will have, however I'm happy with the work we have put in place to keep the players engaged and sharp during lockdown.

"Ultimately, we have to attack the game in the same way that I always expect from the players and show the correct mentality."
