Riyad Mahrez was the star of the show in City's five-star display as the Algerian international netted a hat-trick.

Benjamin Mendy and Ferran Torres were also on the scoresheet as City brushed Burnley aside with ease.

The Clarets haven't triumphed in this fixture since March 1963 when beating their hosts 5-2 at Maine Road in the old Division One.

They did, however, prevail in August 1973 when Colin Waldron scored the only goal of the game in the FA Charity Shield - before games were staged at Wembley Stadium on a permanent basis.
