Malky Mackay disappointed not to win

Watford boss Malky Mackay was disappointed his side failed to convert a winning position into a victory.

He said: “I’m very disappointed. I’ve spoken to the players and told them that with the effort they put in and the courage they showed against an experienced side for them to go and lose the game is hard to swallow.

“We are disappointed that we didn’t finish the chances we created.

“At 2-1 against Crystal Palace midweek we had great chances to kill the game off and it was the same.”

On the penalty, he added: “I asked the referee if he was sure about the penalty decision.

“I’ve seen it and he doesn’t come from behind, he comes from the side and clearly heads the ball before their player handles it.

“I think he’s made a major mistake but we’ve got to get on with it, keep going and keep believing in ourselves.

“They’ve played really well and created a lot of chances.”
