Padiham FC Ladies’ 4-0 win at Leigh RMI on Wednesday night moved them up to second place in the North West Women’s Regional League First Division North.

The Storks were delayed arriving after a motorway accident, and started the fixture with only nine players until the rest of the team arrived.

Jodie Lonsdale gave Padiham a 1-0 lead, and further goals from Charlotte Holden (2) and Justine Wallace completed the victory.

The Storks’ final game is at Carlisle United on Sunday.

The ladies had beaten Kendal Town 6-2 on Sunday at Thomas Whitham College.

Becky Hayton hit four goals, with Wallace and Debbie Fraser-Higgins also on target.
