Padiham Reserves’ unbeaten start to their NWC Reserve Division title defence came to a halt on Saturday.

The Storks went down 2-1 at Church Lane against New Mills Reserves.

Trailing 2-0, Brad Cookson got Padiham back into the game in the second half, but the Storks missed out on a point when their next best effort hit the bar.

Padiham Ladies got off to the best of starts in the North West Women’s Regional League, beating Leigh RMI 6-4.

Becky Hayton hit four goals, with her first arrivingf within the opening 25 seconds.

Leigh recovered to go in front, before Justine Wallace was fouled and Hayton equalised from the spot.

Leigh added two more, before Emily Wilkinson pulled one back before half-time.

Two further goals from Hayton and one for Leah Hart sealed victory for Padiham, who host Blackburn Community tomorrow night.
