Burnley FC Girls’ Under 15s returned to winning form with a 4-0 victory at home against Formby.

The team have now taken maximum points in their last 13 home matches, ahead of this week’s home cup game against Manchester City.

There were good performances but disappointing results for most of the other Burnley teams at the weekend.

However, the Under 9s Clarets maintained their unbeaten run at Lostock Hall. A hat-trick from defender Jorja helped to secure the win. The Under 9 Blues also continue to improve, and new boss Lee Fielden was hugely impressed by the side in Saturday’s game against Lostock Hall.

• Everyone at Burnley FC Girls and Ladies was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the death of 15-year-old Melissa Smith, who died on Sunday while playing for Cadley FC against Euxton.

The club send their deepest sympathy and condolences to Melissa’s family, friends and teammates.
