Liverpool latest club to be linked with Clarets striker Ings
Danny Ings is widely reported to have emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool ahead of Monday’s deadline.
And the Reds’ interest could provide an ideal scenario for Burnley, in that they could receive a fee while retain his services for the rest of the season on loan.
Ings, 22, is out of contract in the summer, but the Clarets would be entitled to compensation as he is under 24.
Should Liverpool make their move now to avoid competition for his signature in the close season, then Burnley are likely to receive more now, and the striker, with seven Premier League goals, could also stay to help keep the Clarets in the top flight.
Spurs and David Moyes’ Real Sociedad are also thought to have a serious interest in the player, who netted 26 goals last season as he was named Championship Player of the Year.
Asked about Ings’ contract situation yesterday, Clarets boss Sean Dyche said: “Danny’s made it clear he’s going to be here until the end of the season, we have.
“After that, who knows? Watch this space.
“I’m happy to go along with his words.”
