Liam hits hat-trick as Brierfield Celtic win

BRIERFIELD Celtic Under 14s beat Rishton 4-3 to record their first win of the season - and it won’t be their last if they continue to play to their strengths.

A deflected goal followed by another put Rishton 2-0 up, and Celtic reacted by making changes.

On the half hour mark Connor Stott was sent on as a centre forward, and shortly after Celtic made it 2-1 with a well-taken goal from Liam Gaskell.

The second half was a different affair with Brierfield pushing for the equaliser, and Gaskell scored again to make it 2-2.

Mohzam Ali was introduced and gave the side more strength in the middle, and further goals from Gaskell and Stott made it 4-2, before Rishton pulled one back made it a very nervous last 10 minutes.

But the side continued to work hard, and the defence remained solid to secured a deserved victory.

Man of the match was hat-trick hero Gaskell.

Celtic’s Under 13s Red enjoyed a 9-5 win over Greyhound Ford.

A slow start saw Celtic trundle their way through a tough first half.

The locals found themselves two goals down before Ryan McGinty got the recovery up and running.

Greyhound then got another, but before the interval Cain Buck and Jonny Davies replied to make it 3-3.

A superior display in the second half saw Celtic dig in and get their just rewards.

McGinty hit a second-half hat-trick to take his tally to four, and Buck added a brace for a treble of his own.

Greyhound added a couple more goals, but Celtic always had the upper hand.
