Sean Dyche is still hopeful of getting a couple of 'maybes' done before the transfer deadline on Monday night.

Dyche admitted there was no news at his pre-Chelsea press conference, as regards progress on any deals, but he is remaining patient ahead of the 11 p.m. cut off at the start of next week.

New chairman Alan Pace remains keen to back the boss, and the club are monitoring a number of situations, and how they develop over the weekend.

Asked if there was anything happening currently, Dyche said: "Not at the moment, loads of stories around, loads of ,mis-truths, as there always is, but I think the new ownership are still getting to grips with what the club's about.

"We're still in the market looking and trying for certain things, but I don't think it's going to be radical, I don't think it will be large amounts of money, I think there'll be a cooling off period where there's a balance to what the new ownership are trying to do at the club, and the way it works.

"It's very difficult at the moment, because of the Covid situation, and getting a real grip of the feel of the people at the club, in the offices, and the way the club runs.

"We'll wait and see. There's maybes, but we're always in the market for a maybe, and we'll see if we can get something across the line."

Dyche would ideally like a new face or two, but his need is maybe not as pressing, with the side nine points clear of trouble and in the fifth round of the FA Cup.

However, he has injury worries over three players ahead of Sunday's game at Stamford Bridge: "We're still kind of debating the idea of Charlie Taylor, he's back on the grass, making progress, but obviously we've got to consider a minor re-injury, and it looks like it is minor, so we'll still be looking at that.

"Barnesy is similar, he's got something that's not major at the moment, we're having to make big calls on these players because of what's happened over the last few months, so we're having to be over-cautious with these players, so they're still touch and go.

"Josh (Brownhill) is another who will be touch and go, he's only got a knock, we've had it checked out, it's nothing serious but it is a sore one on his foot.

"We'll make a decision on him, but again we will have to consider being cautious because we've had so many injuries over the last eight, nine months."
