Burnley took the lead when Linette Craig won the ball, and Evie Priestley and Vikki Eastwood combined to find Justine Wallace, who found a gap at the near post.

Craig was instrumental in creating the second goal, initially by again winning possession, and then delivering a cross that was met at the far post by Leah Embley, who calmly shot across the goalkeeper to score.

The visitors pulled one back when a wicked shot was saved by Taylor Gregson, but the ball ran loose and was slotted into the net.

The Clarets were next on the scoresheet when Craig set Hamer up inside the box and she chipped over the keeper.

With 10 minutes remaining, the visitors made it 4-2 when Gregson was unable to hold onto a long range high ball, and the ball fell kindly to a teammate, who snapped up the chance.

The visitors started to pin the Clarets in their own half.

A ball was deflected onto the arm of Jo Holt just outside the box and a free kick was awarded.

The low driven kick curled in, deceiving Gregson at the far post , but the Lady Clarets held out for victory.

On Sunday they are again in cup action at Accrington Stanley Community Ladies in the Lancashire FA Cup.

The Lady Clarets reserve team played out a goalless draw against Wigan Athletic Reserves ladies at the Prairie Sports Village to claim their first point of the season.
