Manchester United centre back Michael Keane wasn’t an 11th-hour capture on deadline day - it was more like 13th!

Burnley had to work until after 1 a.m. to secure a four-month loan for the 21-year-old.

And he feels a move to Turf Moor is the nest step in his development: “I didn’t have a clue until about 5 p.m. on deadline day, so it was all a bit of a rush and hectic but we managed to get the loan deal done in the end.

“I’m very happy about it, it should be a great experience for me in the Premier League so I’m really looking forward to it.

“I feel it’s the next step in my progression at that level.

“I think I’ve done pretty well in the Championship over the last two seasons when I’ve been out on loan there.

“But I’ve only played once in the Premier League before, so I’m looking forward to making that next step and playing some more.”

Fellow deadline day signing George Boyd is hoping for a case of deja vu.

Boyd helped Hull City win promotion to the Premier League as Championship runners-up last year.

And the Tigers went on to survive in the top flight, and prosper, reaching the FA Cup Final and earning a place in Europe for the first time.

Having swapped the KC Stadium for Turf Moor, he is now aiming to help Burnley - who followed Hull as Championship runners-up - retain their place in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old has agreed a three-year deal, and is looking forward to the challenge: “I’m delighted. It’s a big challenge, like it was last year with Hull to stay up.

“It’s the same sort of thing with Burnley. We did it last year and there’s no reason why we can’t do it again with Burnley.

“The experience with Hull, the more experience of playing week in, week out in the Premier League gives you that confidence you deserve to be at this level, and I’m sure we can kick on.”

Nathaniel Chalobah completed a trio of signings, joining on loan until january from Chelsea, and he said: “I am really excited and looking forward to it.

“This is another step up from last season and I’m hoping to improve as a player.”
