Keane backs Gray for England call
Michael Keane sees no reason why Andre Gray can't make it a Clarets hat-trick in the next England squad.
Keane has joined Clarets skipper Tom Heaton in the last two squads, and there has been speculation that boss Gareth Southgate could name Gray, who has nine goals so far this season - his first at Premier League level. And the 24-year-old said, on Gray's chances of making the games against World champions Germany and Lithuania, with the squad named on Thursday: "He’s an unbelievable finisher. He can score different types of goals and he's a nightmare to play against."He won’t give you any rest at all and he’s always in your face."It wouldn’t surprise me if he got a call up, he’s been doing really well and scoring goals so I don’t see why not."He’s up there with the finishers (in England). There's world class players in the England squad, the likes of Harry Kane and Wayne Rooney, who maybe have all game round and I’m sure Andre, like all of us, has things to work on but one day, if it’s not soon, he will get in the England squad, he’s destined for it."Keane is also hoping to get the nod, after making the last two, though he is yet to make his debut.Asked whether Southgate had been in touch, he admitted: "I’ve not heard from him for a while, I’ve just been getting on with my work here at Burnley."If it happens I’ll be delighted. There’s a lot of competition and a lot of centre halves playing well at the minute."I’ve been in the fold a few times now and feel like I’ve been doing alright myself so hopefully I’ve got a chance."
