The Clarets, after opening the campaign with defeats against Chelsea and Swansea City, drew 0-0 with Manchester United at Turf Moor on Saturday to get off the mark.

And the 25-year-old summer signing from Middlesbrough feels it was just reward for some encouraging displays.

Jutkiewicz, who caused the United defence no end of trouble, said: “I wouldn’t say it had been a worry, obviously you want to get off the mark as soon as possible, but the way we went about our performances, taking it to teams, we felt it was only a matter of time before we got something on the board, and I’m pleased it’s come now.

“We were really disappointed not to get something out of the game at Swansea after a really encouraging second half performance, so it’s nice to get off the mark.”

Much has been made of Burnley taking on the Premier League with two strikers, and Jutkiewicz feels that positivity will be rewarded: “I think we’ve taken it to teams from the minute go, and that will be important for us for the rest of the season, to play with intensity and work hard as a team unit.

“The manager has created an environment where everyone is close knit and willing to put the team before themselves.

“We’re going to have to give that and more in every single game, but we’re prepared to work had and that will stand us in good stead.”

And he felt the Clarets were value for a point against United: “I think we created a few openings, had a couple of chances first and second half, but overall we have to be pleased with a point, a hard-fought one.

“Jonah was very unlucky, it was a great free kick but while we had chances, they had a couple. We have to be really pleased the way we went about our business, and deserved a point.

“Man United teams are always strong, we focussed on where they will hurt us, but at the same time it was about what we needed to do to get something out of the game.

“All across the back four and everyone involved put in a shift and put their body on the line for a clean sheet. That is going to be key for us.”
