Joseph Mills is latest Burnley signing

The 22-year-old left-back becomes Burnley's fourth new recruit of the summer after agreeing a season-long loan.

And his move to the Clarets means Mills could now face his brother Matt on the opening day of the Championship season when Howe's men face Bolton Wanderers.

Central defender Matt, who recently moved to Bolton from Leicester City, also previously played for Reading and was followed to the Madejski Stadium by Joseph when he joined the Royals from Southampton in August, 2011.

But after signing a new contract at Reading in February and helping Brian McDermott's side to promotion to the Premier League, the Swindon-born defender has opted to join Burnley to further his career.

The attack-minded full-back made 14 Championship appearances for Reading last season as they clinched promotion to the top-flight, including a start at Turf Moor in October when he helped the Royals to a 1-0 win.

Mills previously made 35 appearances for Southampton after coming through the Academy system at the St Mary's Stadium, helping the Saints win the Football League Trophy at Wembley in March, 2010.

And he gained further first-team experience during loan spells with Scunthorpe, helping them to promotion from League One in 2009, and Doncaster Rovers, adding another 32 starting appearances to an impressive CV.

Mills' arrival at Turf Moor follows the earlier signings of Jason Shackell and Luke O'Neill as Burnley boss Howe continues to build from the back as part of his summer strengthening.
