Jones praises Ings after striker scores first Premier League goal
The 22-year-old scored the opener for Dorchester Town in a 2-1 win over Staines Town at Wheatsheaf Park in the Conference South this time four years ago.
And since being handed his debut in the Football League in a 2-0 defeat to MK Dons in December 2010 the striker has never looked back.
Last season’s 26-goal hitman was called up to Gareth Southgate’s England Under 21 set-up 12 months ago and now he’s proving that he can compete in England’s top tier.
After beating Tim Howard in the 20th minute of a 3-1 loss to Everton at Turf Moor, Jones said: “He’s a striker and he’ll want to score goals. He took his goal really well so we’re very pleased for him. He’s got great ability, he’s still young, he’s still learning and he’s going to be a top player.”
