Having already knocked back two offers from West Ham during the transfer window, Burnley rejected an offer in excess of £30m from Leicester City for the 28-year-old on Friday.

The England international is yet to feature this season for the Clarets, amid the speculation, with a toe injury the reason given by Dyche.

He sat out Saturday night's 1-0 defeat at home to Southampton, and, asked about his fitness after the game, Dyche said: "He's got a sore toe, so we're having to wait for that."

Asked about the seriousness of that, having ruled him out for the first four games of the campaign, Dyche added: "He said to me it's not serious, but it is sore, that's the way that one is.

"He's had all the checks, everything has been done."

And on the latest offer from Leicester, and whether there was an update on that front, Dyche admitted: "There's no news on that.

"It will be a board decision, I certainly want to keep him, make no mistake

"He is a very important player here and I feel it is very important that we keep him."
