Sky Sports pundit backs 'bigger' club to swoop for Burnley player who is on 'different level'

Sky Sports pundit Lianne Sanderson has claimed that she fully expects one of the Premier League top clubs to try and lure Dwight McNeil away from Burnley.

The 21-year-old has been a standout player for the Clarets this season, and put in a typically assured performance in Wednesday night's 3-2 win over Aston Villa.

The winger scored one and assisted another as Sean Dyche’s men made it three wins on the bounce in all competitions, but former England international Sanderson believes that it is only a matter of time before his eye-catching displays attract attentions from the top flight’s big guns.

Speaking on Sky Sports’ Football Show, she said: “He hasn’t really gone underneath the radar, but I’d love to play with a player like him.

"He’s an old-fashioned winger who provides a service for the centre-forward. He can deliver the ball, he gets at players, and I think he’s really exciting.

"When you watch the game, I think there’s a lot of really good young talent in the Premier League right now, with the likes of Foden, Mount, Grealish, Maddison, and I think McNeil is a player who, if you know the game and you watch the game, it isn’t just last night that you will have noticed him.

"He's been doing very well this season, and I definitely anticipate a bigger club coming in for him at some point because he looks like a different level.”

The victory over Villa took Dyche’s nine points clear of the relegation zone, and they could move as high as 13th in the table, should they win their game in hand over Crystal Palace and Wolves.
