The Lancashire pair are fierce rivals, but with the Clarets enjoying a lengthy run in the top flight, you have to go back to 2017 for the last time they played each other.

Even then, that match was a League Cup clash, with Burnley running out 2-0 winners thanks to goals from Jack Cork and Robbie Brady.

You have to go back to the year prior for their last league meeting, and all the way back to 2010 for the last time that the Clarets were beaten by Rovers, with David Dunn scoring a vital penalty in a Premier League game at Turf Moor.

But of course, this is a rivalry that stretches back way beyond the past decade or so.

The first official meeting between Burnley and Blackburn came in 1888, with Rovers handing out a brutal 7-1 thrashing.

Paddy Power have ran the numbers, comparing win percentages from derby clashes between every Premier League club and their most fierce foes to determine which clashes truly are the most competitive.
