Burnley transfer news: Pundit talks up Clarets pursuit, Dyche denies striker approach

It’s not very often that all eyes are on Burnley during a transfer window.

Granted, all eyes might be a bit of an exaggeration, but at the very least, with a new owner coming into the club just before the market opened, there has been a renewed interest in what the Clarets might look to achieve in the coming weeks.

Admittedly, things have been slow so far, but earlier in the week we saw Sean Dyche’s side linked with a potential move for Everton full-back Jonjoe Kenny, and it’s a rumour that appears to be gaining traction.

Speaking to Football Insider, former England striker Darren Bent claimed that a move to Turf Moor could be a deal that benefits all parties.

He said: “I’ve always liked him but if they [Everton] can get a bit of money for him then yeah, I’m all for that. When and where’s he going to play? I don’t think Everton see him as like a long-term player either.

“If they can get some money for him and kind of recoup a bit money then yeah, I would do it but he’s been a good player and he is a good player so I’m sure if he does go to Burnley, he’ll fit into Sean Dyche’s system perfectly.”

Kenny has played just 77 minutes of Premier League football this term, spread over four appearances.

According to Football Insider’s initial report on the matter, a fee of around £7 million could be enough to secure a permanent deal for Kenny.
