The Clarets picked up their first win of the campaign against Crystal Palace on Monday, with Chris Wood’s early strike enough to wrap up a valuable three points.

That result allowed Sean Dyche’s men to move out of the relegation zone with a game in hand on the teams beneath them.

For their part, City have struggled to recapture the glittering form that they have become synonymous with under Pep Guardiola this term, and find themselves 13th in the table having won just one of their last four Premier League outings.

But Lawrenson is of the opinion that they will still have enough to comfortably beat Burnley this weekend.

Speaking to BBC Sport, he said: “Manchester City have put five goals past Burnley in each of their past three meetings at Etihad Stadium.

“I don't see City scoring quite that many this time - they haven't managed more than one in any of their past six league games - but the points should still be theirs without too many problems.

“If Sergio Aguero is fit, Pep Guardiola should play him up front. They will make loads of chances on Saturday, and Aguero is the best man to take them - I know he has been injured, but I don't really understand why Pep Guardiola doesn't just play his strongest attacking line-up when he is available.

“Burnley look a lot more solid now Ben Mee is back in their defence, but I don't see them keeping City out.”

Lawrenson predicts a 3-0 City win.
