The clash at Turf Moor (6pm kick-off) is not believed to be in doubt after the Blades had a number of personnel test positive.

Everton’s home game against Manchester City on Monday was postponed just a few hours before kick-off after City revealed a number of their squad had come down with the virus.

But Sheffield United are still set to fulfil tonight’s fixture despite the outbreak at the Bramall Lane club.

A statement from the Blades said: “Sheffield United can confirm the club recorded a number of positive coronavirus tests after the latest round of testing.

“Due to medical confidentiality the club will not be revealing the names of those who have been affected.

“The individuals who have tested positive have now entered into a period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and Government guidelines.

“Earlier today, the Premier League confirmed 18 positive coronavirus tests – the highest figure of the season so far.

“Everyone at Sheffield United would like to extend our best wishes to our colleagues and wish them a speedy recovery.”

The Blades sit bottom of the Premier League table with just a point to their name, having failed to win a game all season.

Sean Dyche’s side, meanwhile, are just two points outside the relegation zone themselves and will be keen to increase that gap with victory over a struggling United tonight.
