Burnley transfer news: Update on first team striker exit, Ex-Claret touts big interest in Turf Moor star

Burnley face the unenviable task of coming up against a Manchester United side that have won their last four Premier League matches in a row on Sunday.

The Clarets could use a win themselves after letting a one-goal lead slip against fellow strugglers Newcastle United last weekend.

A 2-1 defeat at Turf Moor left Sean Dyche’s men seven points clear of the drop zone with seven matches to go this term.

Burnley could be further disadvantaged by the potential absence of first choice goalkeeper Nick Pope too.

The England international missed out on Sunday’s clash with the Magpies, and is a doubt again this week.

Speaking in a press conference, Dyche said: "Popey is touch and go.

"We will have a call on that one. He has made good progress this week.

"Popey has had a decent day with Billy (Mercer) regards handling and getting himself working again but we will have to make a call on that tomorrow because we have had so many injuries and we can't people throw people into the games for the sake of it."

The Clarets’ most recent win over Man United came in January of last year, with goals from Chris Wood and Jay Rodriguez enough to seal a 2-0 victory at Old Trafford.

Aside from that result, Burnley have failed to win in 11 of their 13 Premier League clashes with the Reds.
